Pride and Prejudice Sites in England from the 2005 Movie

There are several romantic aspects of the book and movies of Pride and Prejudice. The society, with its music and dancing is definitely a part of it. The manner of speaking is wonderfully appealing. The descriptions of the homes, furniture and gardens in the books were brought alive in the making of the movies. Specifically, the scenery and settings in the Pride and Prejudice movie made in 2005 were breathtaking. There are so many scenes that are forever etched in my mind from that film. In fact, I have thought about them so much, I have looked up their actual locations and want to share them with you now. How would you like to see a sunrise in the fields such as the one in the end of the 2005 movie? I personally would love to walk along the moat with the geese flapping their wings to get out of my way. I would love to walk the halls of Pemberly and see the statues and climb the staircases, and see the piano forte. Well, I don’t know how much of that could become reality. But, I do know that they filmed Pride and Prejudice in England. And all of the places that they filmed are open to the public for tours

The Groombridge Place is open to visitors from February through October. There are formal gardens named the Secret Garden, the White Rose Garden and more. There is a moat around the home with natural springs feeding into it. There is also a ‘birds of prey’ sanctuary. The official website has a page dedicated to photos of Pride and Prejudice. The admission price for one adult is 9 pounds or about 15 U.S. dollars. There are family and senior rates as well.

The Chatsworth House is the home of the Duke of Devonshire. He invites all to visit his house. He has a wonderful website you can browse to get lots of detail about visiting there. There is even lodging on site so that you can be a part of the glorious 105 acre grounds. You will recognize some of the statues and grounds from the movie. There are three price options for visiting the estate. You may see the home, garden and farmyard for 16 pounds or about 26 U.S. Dollars. You can visit the home and gardens for 12 pounds or about 20 U.S. Dollars. And finally you can visit the extensive grounds for about 8 pounds or 13 U.S. Dollars. There are guidebooks, audio guides and a Chatsworth app available for reasonable prices too. Online bookings 24 hours in advance will also save you a little cash. Entrance to the house and grounds is about 15 pounds or 23 U.S. Dollars. The grounds alone, bordered by two rivers, are a beautiful sight. The estate at Stourhead is owned by the National Trust. Entrance to this park and literally hundreds of historic houses and gardens is obtained by membership to the National Trust. You can become a member online by visiting the national trust website. The lake and house at Stourhead are surrounded by over 2,500 acres of woods, rolling hills and farmland. There are majestic temples (including the temple of Apollo), a wonderful lake, rare trees and 18^th century gardens. The large Regency library, antique furniture and paintings are some of the amazing available sites.
